An introduction to Sicily

I think that Sicily is the ideal place to visit
for any tourist! The largest island of the
Mediterranean sea, Sicily is situated
right in the centre of it.

Sicily's land is incredibly fertile with loads of olive,
almond, and citrus trees inland and palm trees along
the coast.

This island is a garden full of wilderness and delights with
some astonishing landscapes, in fact there is not many
regions in Europe that can boast three natural parks
and ninety eight natural reserves.

The three natural parks are Parco delle Madonie,
Parco dei Nebrodi and Parco dell' Etna.

Parco delle Madonie is a park full of mountains where
you will find superb Spring Limestone Flora with rare species
of orchid, lilies and other common species.

Parco dei Nebrodi is famous for the largest woodland
area in Sicily with oak, beech, ilex and a wide range of
Mammals and invertebrates.

Finally Parco dell' Etna with landscapes that vary from
volcanic lava to woodland and meadows.

Sicily is also surrounded by fourteen other beautiful islands
such as the Eolie, Pelagie, Pantelleria, Favignana, Marettimo,
Levanzo and the island of Ustica famous for its intact natural
marine reserve.

Due to its geographical position Sicily has attracted many
other civilizations trough the centuries like the Greeks, Arabs,
Spanish and others making the island a unique place with
a mixed style of architecture, traditions and folkways.

As always comments are welcome!
